The capital town, Lefkada, with its historical city center, splendid architecture, narrow alleyways and the Agia Mavra Castle, all of which offer visitors a taste of the cultural heritage of the island. Lefkada Town also possesses many shops, restaurants, bars and clubs that are open all day.

The cosmopolitan town of Nydri is one of the most popular tourist destinations on Lefkada Island. Nydri is located opposite 3 well-known isles: Onasis' "Scorpios", Valaoritis' "Madouri" and Livanos' "Scorpidi", and will be your starting point for cruises to these islands and to beautiful beaches on the island. Nydri has a lovely sandy beach, where a number of water sports are offered. The Waterfalls of Nydri, an area of unparalleled natural beauty.

Vafkeri village, an enchanting mountain settlement with verdant landscape, stone-built houses and an amazing view of the islands of «Scorpios» (the famous island of Onasis), Madouri, Meganissi, as well as the surrounding villages. It climate is mild and is ideal for trekking, jogging, nature walks, painting, etc. Vafkeri village is situated in the center of Lefkada, which means that from here you can easily reach every point on the island, without traveling long distances.

The mountain village of Karya, famous for its traditional weavings and needlework. In the summer, traditional weddings of Lefkada (Lefkas) are held in this village. The village of Spanochori, one of the oldest settlements in Lefkada, which along with the villages of Lazarata, Pinakochori, Kavalo and Asprogerakata, comprise the Municipality of Sfakiotes. Spanochori offers a stunning view of the Ionian Sea and Lefkada Town.

The marvelous Bay of Porto Katsiki, with its azure pool-like waters. In 2002, Porto Katsiki was declared the 2nd Best Beach in the World, while in 2003-2003, the Greek Ministry of Environmental Issues declared it the Best Beach in Greece.

The popular seaside resort of Agios Nikitas, where the houses are built amphitheatrically around the beach.

The exquisite beach of Kathisma, a long, wide stretch of soft golden sand with crystal-clear waters that attracts hundreds of sunbathers and swimmers every day in the summertime.

The lovely settlements of Vassiliki, Syvota and Poros, with their quaint harbors, and seaside cafes and tavernas.

During your stay on Lefkada Island, you can spend endless hours swimming and sunbathing at its lovely beaches. On the northwestern side, we suggest going to the beautiful beaches of Pefkoulia, Agios Nikitas, Kathisma and Kalamitsi. Travelling towards the south west side, you will find the wonderful beaches of Egremni, Porto Katsiki and Vassiliki, the latter being a favourite of windsurfers.

The Afteli Bay, Kastri Bay and Miikros Gialos offer the best swimming on the southeast side, while in northeast Lefkada, we recommend the beaches of Nydri, Lygia and Nikiana.

In Lefkada visitors have the opportunity to dine at one of the traditional taverns and ouzeries and try local delicacies such as "bourgieto" (fish with tomatoes and onions), "savoro" (fish in a white sauce of rosemary, vinegar, oil and raisins), baked sardines, cod "bianco", squash pie, sausages and fresh grilled fish.

For your evening entertainment, Lefkada offers many options. If you want to party till dawn, your best bet is in Lefkada Town or Nydri. For a quieter evening, you can dine or have a drink at the seaside towns of Vassiliki, Syvota and Agios Nikitas, beneath the plane trees in Karya or in the beautiful settings of Vafkeri and Spanochori Villages.

Location

Vafkeri is a small mountainous village in the center of Lefkada. Built at an altitude of 500m, this village has traditional architecture and many renovated stone buildings. The route from Nydri to Vafkeri is idyllic, with a wonderful view to Meganisi, Skorpios and the other small islands between Lefkada and mainland Greece.
